Photography is my lifelong passion. After receiving my first camera at the age of 8, it became a constant accessory. Family drives were interrupted so I could photograph the Rockies, the rivers or interesting buildings. Friends grew accustomed to seeing a camera in front of my face.
About 15 years ago, I was fortunate to be able to devote myself full time to photography. My goal was to learn to print in platinum palladium, a wonderful technique from the mid 1800's.
I have studied with photographers whose work I admire, travelling to conferences to further my knowledge and skill. Because I love the subtleties and detail of black and white film, I find ways around any challenges.
The images here are from film ranging in size from 35mm to 8 x 10 inches and are silver gelatin images mostly. Platinum does not scan well because of the nature of the watercolour paper. But I will eventually be better at photographing it and will post more.
As you can see, mountains, rivers and buildings are still favourite subjects!
